Contrary to unsubstantiated false narratives linking highhandedness to the operations of the Lagos state task force on environment and special offences (enforcement unit), a review of series of assignments and operations carried out by the agency continue to refute the misinformation being bandied by false alarmists and enemies of the greater Lagos project, aimed at regeneration and creation of a better, smarter, secure and greater Lagos for all.
The Lagos state task force by virtue of its mandate, amongst other responsibilities, enforces the Lagos state government laws on environment and traffic violations, in line with the Lagos state master plan with the T.H.E.ME model of the current government forming a major bouquet been implemented to actualize the greater Lagos project in record time.
The latest operation of the task force at the Arewa community central mosque (Masallacin Alaja) agege, which is a controlled and strategic demolition of the shanties and oddities taking the shine off the place in order to give affected sections a face lift in tune with modern times with security topmost on the government’s agenda speaks volume to buttress the humane make up of the agency
The chairman of the agency, CSP Saheed Olayinka Egbeyemi, being a seasoned police officer with rich vein of experiences in public relations and diplomacy, having worked in various capacities as head of units and deputy P.P.R.O (Police Public Relations Officer), in the Lagos state police command, today, further demonstrated professionalism, civility and diplomatic nature of the agency, when after mobilizing his men for action at the central mosque agege and discovered that the sarki of agege who is the paramount leader of the arewa community, was not fully aware of the operation and had had a misleading view that the government was angling to take over the mosque had to tardy a little by paying a working visit to HRH Alhaji Musa Muhammad Dogon Kadai, sarki of agege kingdom, to officially brief him of the true intent of the Lagos state government on the exercise, which is the safety, security and wellbeing of worshippers, pointing out that, security breaches are prone in unsuspecting but highly susceptible places, like the surroundings of the mosque currently look.
The surrounding is evidently unkempt and could readily serve as safe haven for criminals and dare devil individuals; noting that, the Lagos state government was only being proactive in the interest of all and the misleading view that government was coming to take over a worship centre was unheard of, unfounded and a misnomer.
It is pertinent to further state that, the agency even though responsible for the enforcement of government’s laws on environment and traffic violations, ample prior notices and warnings to relevant and appropriate stakeholders precedes actions and compensations are reimbursed where and when genuinely deemed fit by our compassionate governor, His Excellency Mr Babajide Olushola Sanwoolu
